Compliance: Quick and Cheap

The necessity for compliance in today’s business world is driving even more interest and investment in e-learning. Employers need to prove compliance in a wide range of topics like health & safety, privacy, financial reporting, harassment and environmental regulation. To satisfy these growing compliance regulations, online training presents the ideal solution with huge savings in cost (a small fraction of what conventional training costs), time, development and productivity.

The Masie Center reports that 60% of all learning initiatives in large organizations are driven by compliance issues. Companies are scrambling to meet compliance training demands within time constraints. E-learning reaches a dispersed workface fast and cost effectively, while also providing detailed records – an important part of compliance.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and new Sexual Harassment legislation are just two examples of the government influence on directing corporate education. Recent regulations have also forced banks to engage in e-learning as a strategic initiative. Financial institutions can roll out training anytime/anywhere, track learners' progress and demonstrate compliance with bank policies and procedures or governing body regulations. Savvy organizations extend the benefits of e-learning from compliance to competitiveness with e-learning for employee orientation, new product rollouts or ethics training.
